AADS aim is to provide strong leadership in the treatment and prevention of AOD misuse among Aboriginal people. Culturally appropriate services, delivered by Aboriginal people is proven to achieve great participation, better engagement and stronger healing.

The service has been in operation since 1989 and has grown from a handful of staff working out a couple of rooms to a professional team of 27 staff working from a new purpose built premises in East Perth, on land of cultural significance to the local Noongar people.

AADS provides a range of holistic services which include:

  • Alcohol & Drug Counselling (Yarning)
  • Community Outreach and Development Programs
  • Family Support, counselling and advocacy services
  • Family violence counselling service
  • Court Diversion and Drug Court Programs and services
  • Youth Support and Outreach to schools and community Programs
  • Education and Training program and workshops: Parenting, Anger Management, Cannabis Education, All Drug Diversion counselling services
  • Drug and Alcohol withdrawal and residential rehabilitation partnerships with services such as Next Step, Cyrenian and Palmerston.

  • Music Therapy
  • Flower Essence
  • Kinesiology

AADS has been funded by Commonwealth and State government for the past 19 years. The Organisation is currently funded by the following governments and agencies: Office of Torres Strait Islander Health (OATISH) Department of Health and Ageing (DHA), National Illicit Drug Strategy (DHA), Drug and Alcohol Office (DAO), National Drug Research Institute (NDRI), Department of Child Protection (DCP), COAG Illicit Drug Diversion Initiative.
